Emmanuel Achiri

International Human Rights Law & Migration Specialist

Emmanuel Achiri is a human rights advocate and a PhD candidate at the Eastern Mediterranean University, in the northern part of Cyprus. His focus is on forced migration, refugees, international human rights law & EU-Africa relations. In 2018, he co-founded and is project manager for the largest civil society organization in Cyprus; VOIS Cyprus – which represents over 60,000 foreign students and migrants in the northern part of Cyprus. Over the last three years, he has led numerous rights-based campaigns advocating for migrant and refugee rights and against racial injustice, human trafficking, labour exploitation, inadequate access to health care for migrants, unregulated agents and universities, and gender-based and sexual violence in Cyprus. He also co-founded the Stop the War in Cameroon Coalition in 2018 and the Anti-Racism Network Cyprus in 2020 and is a member of the steering committee of the Refugee Rights Association Cyprus. He was recently appointed as member of a special advisory board to offer consultancy to the European Programme for Integration and Migration
