Ross Mc Donald is an architect and urban development professional specialized in cross-sectoral urban analysis and contextual analysis to aid urban recovery. Between 2018 and 2020, Mc Donald was based in Amman, Jordan and contributed to the implementation of the EU funded Urban analysis Network for Syria, leading on the analysis, and writing of City Profile reports covering several cities in across Syria. This experience was followed by two years working on the Urban Recovery Framework Taskforce for Syria, in partnership with the UN Habitat Syria country office, and focusing on local community needs analysis in a number of conflict-affected cities. Prior to his work on urban recovery in Syria, Mc Donald worked in private architectural practice in Cape Town, South Africa, focusing on sustainable environmental, social and heritage design responses.
